Security

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 172 views

Your account’s Security page lets you view your account’s SSH keys, IP Access restrictions, and Two-Factor Authentication.

Allowed IP Access

You can provide restriction security to access your account only from certain Static IP addresses or Subnets.

Rule Formats
  • all – keyword matching all IPs
  • xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx – Single IP
  • xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/M – IP with Mask in CIDR format
  • xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/mmm.mmm.mmm.mmm – IP with Mask in dotted quad format
Example rules
  • 120.123.123.57/28 matches IP from 120.123.123.48 to 120.123.123.63
  • 120.123.123.57/16 matches IP from 120.123.0.0 to 120.123.255.255

SSH Keys

SSH keys provide a more secure way to log in to your Servers. We recommend them for all users.

For more detailed instructions, see our SSH key documentation:

Connect with SSH

Use a terminal to connect to Servers using OpenSSH or PuTTY for shell access to your remote server.

Multi-Factor Auth

You can use Two-Factor Authentication to make access to your account more secure.

Using 2FA adds an additional layer of security against unauthorized access to your account. For example, even if a bad actor gains access to your password, they still can’t access anything without also having your phone.

DCHost supports 2FA for accounts in the form of a security code that you use in addition to your password when you log in. You can receive the code via SMS, via email or an authenticator app on your smartphone. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA on all DCHost accounts.
